Federal Customs Service reports record growth in imports in January-May 2011
The Russian Federal Customs Service has reported a record growth in imports for the period from January to May 2011: compared to the same period last year, its volume increased by 50% to $ 114 billion.
In May, the physical volume of imports rose by 26.5%, while the average price of imported goods - by 12.2% compared to May 2010. Imports from non-CIS countries (by 48.8%), as well as from neighboring countries (by 48%) showed a significant increase.
The growth in the first five months of this year also showed exports (by 28.5%), but not due to the physical volume, but due to the increase in average export prices by 35.5%.
