Very soon the Kolyadichi freight station will become the leading terminal of Belarusian Railways

Creation of an extensive efficient transport and logistics network has long been part of the plans of Belarusian Railways. And the first step to large-scale changes will be the reconstruction and modernization of the Kolyadichi freight station – a key link in the transport logistics. The nearest plans for development became known from the press service of Belarusian Railways.

According to the reconstruction project, 5 stages of work are planned, after which the Kolyadichi station will rightfully be called the leading terminal of Belarusian Railways.

The first stage of reconstruction of the terminal and warehouse infrastructure in operation, which will soon begin, involves the construction of a new area designed to work with heavy cargoes. The site will be equipped with three access railroad tracks and a customs zone. The first OptimaKrane gantry crane, with a lifting capacity of 12.5 tons, has already been installed. Three more identical cranes, capable of the same effective work at wind speeds up to 20 m/sec, will be installed in the nearest future. And for particularly heavy loads the site will also be equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 30 t.

Within the first stage, a covered warehouse of 4.5 thousand square meters will be erected for unloading and processing of unit and package cargo. In addition, modernization of the access roads to the freight yard is planned.

Reconstruction will also affect the infrastructure of social facilities. The current building of the hostel will be turned into a modern hotel for 20 places, equipped with the medical and consumer services, as well as catering facilities.

After the completion of works the Kolyadichi freight station will be able to provide a full range of services for the processing of heavy goods, large containers and various wheeled vehicles.

The modernization of the station will affect the increase in traffic volume and attract additional freight traffic due to the qualitatively new service offered to cargo owners.

Today, the Kolyadichi freight station maintains leadership on the BZhD, providing efficient processing of large volumes of export, import, transit and domestic freight. According to the data of the Belarusian Railways, during seven months of the current year the station has handled 368.5 thousand tons of cargoes under 28.8 thousand container operations only.
